After a period of decline comes the turning point.
The intense light that had been driven away returns.
There is movement, but not caused by violence.
The movement is natural, developing spontaneously.
Thus, transformation of the old becomes easy.
The old is discarded and replaced with the new.
Both actions are in keeping with the time; thereby causing no damage.
Eternity is one day
The electronic eye over his mouth makes a faint buzzing sound, while the tattered poster over his head depicts a young Edith Piaf with that awfully sad expression that seems to pity him. The battery in his chest indicates residual activity of two thousand years. His name is David. He is 4567 years old and he is a robot, contaminated by humanity and by residual traces of his creators who passed away long ago. He lives in a world that is a mere reflection of what once was; he feels unique, original and incomparable. Irreplicable. A subjective uniqueness deriving from the soul and not the brain. So he believes at least.
Who is David?
The ethically acceptable and respectful answer did not even lie in the minds of his creators. The right answer will have to wait, perhaps, for a further stage of evolution. The stage when robots will, in turn, be replaced, just as dinosaurs and man, by an even more advanced race which – without rejecting an understanding of nature, progress or its own temporary centrality – will accept that it is a mere fragment in the boundless itinerary of the universe which, in turn, it will leave behind.
With the consciousness of not being in the image or likeness of anyone.
a. What program was used to create the multimedia?
Windows Movie Maker.
b. How and why did you choose that music?
I was looking for a music that would express love and melancholy at the same time. And this soundtrack was perfect for the feelings that I wanted to convey.
c. Tell us about the editing process when you think of a multimedia.
In this case the process was simple. I had a series of images representing the physical decay and I just had to decide how many seconds had to pass between an image and the other. Nothing more. Eventually I’m just a photographer.
