Introduction

This project talks about the current situation of young precarious Italians. Ludovica took several photographs of many subjects: they are between 25 and 35 years old, born in the 80s, the generation that more than others is paying the bill for the economic crisis.

In Italy, the youth unemployment rate is extremely high: 35% in the North and 50% in the South of the Country. These people have to often change their job because of short contracts and because of how difficult it can be finding stable working conditions.

This does not depend on the skills that these young people have: some of them have two or even three degrees, some others have years of experience, often gained through unpaid internships.

More than the economic crisis, it seems that it is the mentality of those who offer a job that has changed, but also that of young people that are somewhat resigned to work for free, with long waiting times and hopes for a normal job.

Sometimes, some of them decide to break the rules of the game and try to invest in themselves.

Ludovica Bastianini is a contemporary Italian photographer, and the project My Generation was presented during Slideluck Naples.

Interview

a. What program was used to create the multimedia?

Adobe Premiere CS6.

b. How and why did you choose that sound/music?

The song is composed by Gillicuddy and was obtained from the web. I chose it because it has a light and simple mood that really suits the type of project that I proposed.

c. Tell us about the editing process when you think of a multimedia.

I try to think of the media not only as a presentation of my photographic work, but as a new and independent one that can add something to the story. In this case I decided to show the drawing process that completes the photos.
