The 24th of April 2014, at 10.56 A.M., Lucchini S.p.A., one of the biggest iron and steel factory in Italy, turned off the last of their furnace, leading to the end of a steel tradition that started in the Etruscan age.
The crisis was ongoing for the last ten years, and has lead to the permanent closure of the factory and the dismissal of more than 3000 workers.
As the city was born with the factory, so it died.
The crisis extended to many local firms, causing the closure of some and the destruction of the dream of a stable job for the younger generation.
Now there is no more possibility for a father to pass his job to his son, so they have to search for new occupations and livelihoods.
